No-Idling Campaign

In collaboration with Paul Cameron and the Brattleboro Climate Protection project, Post Oil Solutions has been involved with a no-idling campaign for the greater Brattleboro area.

The thrust of the campaign is educational, an attempt to raise the awareness of the public to the benefits that can be realized  in reducing carbon emissions into the atmosphere from turning off our cars, rather than leaving them idle. Actions include
  • having brochures printed for distribution
  • having signs made by the Department of Public Works encouraging no-idling
  • approaching area banks to have similar signs posted at their drive-up windows
  • checking on area school buses as they wait for students at schools
  • having students at Brattleboro Union High School (BUHS) and Compass, in Westminister, prepare PSAs on this subject, that will be aired on local radio stations, and BCTV.
The group has also been encouraged by the local government to approach the Brattleboro Selectboard with a suggested ordinance that reads, in part: "NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that no person shall leave idling for more than two minutes any motor vehicle in the any area of Town."

A non-binding no-idling ordinance was passed by the Brattleboro Selectboard in April, 2007.
