We were finally successful in contracting with Building a Better Brattleboro to lease the River Garden space on Main Street in downtown Brattleboro during the months of November and December, 2006.  Even though it was only available for these two months, we decided to go ahead because we wanted to establish the presence of a winter market, and generate interest and publicity for a future winter market.

The Winter Farmers' Market was open from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM November 4, 11, 18 and December 2, 9, 16, and 23. On December 9, we will held a joint holiday market with the Brattleboro Area Farmers' Market (BAFM) at the River Garden .

There was much enthusiasm in the community about this development. The participating vendors-- ranging from 25 to 40 vendors on any given Saturday--were sad to see the Market end, and hoped--like us--that it was a first step toward realizing a more permanent venture that would run from November through April in the future.

The hope and intention of POS is that the Winter Farmers' Market will eventually come under the umbrella of the BAFM.

Toward this end, a joint POS-BAFM Winter Farmers' Market planning committee has been formed and will hold its first meeting Tuesday, February 27.  Stay tuned for updates.
