Education "Paul Revere"

Our "Paul Revere" work is dedicated to “getting the word out” about peak oil, climate change, and the societal crises that both of these events portend for all of us. Our efforts thus far include:

  • Presentations at schools, churches, and other community organizations including screenings of The End of Suburbia, and its antidote, The Power of Community
  • Hosting a monthly series the third Wednesday of each month--"Building Sustainable Communities"--of films, presentations, talks, etc. at the Marlboro College Graduate Center
  • A peak oil presentation to the Windham Regional Commission (WRC) and the Brattleboro Select Board.
  • Sponsored an essay contest on peak oil for high school students in our region.
  • Created a POS website (www.postoilsolutions.org)
  • Co-sponsored with the Brattleboro chapter of the Vermont Earth Institute a talk by Jim Merkel (Radical Simplicity).
  • Sponsored RIchard Heinberg presentation at the Brattleboro Union High School, preceded by opportunity for small group discussion with members the Brattleboro Peak Oil Task Force and the Select Board.
  • Participated in workshops, conferences, and energy fairs; presentations and participation in panel discussions regarding energy and food issues.
